67 The G Davis Is Innocent crowd dug up the pitch and put oil on one end overnight before the last day of the 3rd Test at Headingley in 1975. Australia were leading 1-0 in the four Test series after an innings win at Edgbaston (Graham Gooch on debut ... 0 & 0) and were 220/3 overnight needing another 225 or so but with both Chappell's out & Rick McCosker 95no. Reckon England were probably favourites on balance. Match declared a draw and the 4th was also drawn.
The career criminal Davis I understand WAS innocent of the armed robbery he was jailed over (police withheld evidence which cleared him) but was later jailed for a couple of robberies he was involved in as a getaway driver.

Oh, Had To Cry Today on the Blind Faith album was quite good, I'll give him that.

Best thing Clapton ever did was on George Harrison's I'd Have You Anytime.
Lovely bit of subtle, understated guitar work here:

I was fairly close mates, with Jack Bruce. He always liked Eric’s playing and remained friends with him. Ginger though, when asked what it was like, playing with Cream, first praised Jack, then said……‘It was a shame about Eric. He could have been really good, if he hadn’t messed around with that Rock’n’Roll and stuck with the blues.’

This. It always feel like it's just a job for him. He's the Anthony Martial of music.

Eric Clapton is tedious and workmanlike.
No passion or excitement or joy in anything he does.

G Davis is innocent. Remember seeing that graffiti about as a kid in Stepney. Actually run into him in a pub as a teenager. Didn’t have a clue until my dad told me
